Magnetic Stripe Reader (3 Tracks) (decoded - RS232)

The Magnetic Stripe Keyboard Wedge Reader connects in-line between a PC and its keyboard. Power is obtained from the host when the reader is configured as a keyboard wedge. The decoded data appears to the host as keyboard keystrokes. It is a magnetic swipe card reader. It decodes magnetic cards encoded to ISO/ANSI standards. Cards can be swiped bi-directionally. This reader simultaneously reads all 3-tracks on a magnetic card.

The reader interfaces through the keyboard port of a IBM PC or compatible, PC/AT or PS/2. It is programmable through the disk setup utility. This reader is user configurable. The data output can be formatted with header, separator, start/end sentinel and suffix characters to match the format expected by the host. The capability of formatting the data output includes a powerful feature that allows the user to click on the menu selection on the screen. The keyboard layout is in accordance with the country language the user selects. If the reader is dual or triple track, the user can also configure which track to read and the track sequence expected by the host.
